Guest what? I finally got a day off! Oh the month of April was crazy. We live in the city of Festivals. For two weekends we had the Coachella Music Festival and then the Stage Coach Music Festival. That plus the fact that there was a massive exodus of employees from the hotel, had us all working 6 and 7 days a week. I am so glad that they have hired a bunch of employees, one from the other Westin down the road and fully trained. Trained so well I was able to take 3 days off in a row!

So Stephanie and I ran away. I hadn’t gone camping in a while. When I did a search online for the campground that I knew was on the beach, I was so surprised that all the information was online and I was able to pick and book my site all online. No more calling, asking and hoping that what you wanted was available.

South Carlsbad State Beach is as close as you are going to get to camping on the beach. I would have prefered to drive to San Felipe or Rosarito, but being a caregiver to two adults I can’t go too far.

I had not been camping at this site before mainly because I knew that the campsites were not on the beach, they are up above on the cliffs. You have to hike up and down the staircases to get to and from the beach. To be honest it wasn’t that bad, not as bad as I was making it out to be.

The campgrounds are very clean, cleaner that most State campgrounds I’ve been to. So if you are looking for a quick escape and live in Southern California head on down to South Carlsbad State Beach and sleep on the cliffs listening to the massive ocean roar. There’s nothing like it!
